Print at 100% (Actual size) on A4 with no margins. Grey outlines show the label edges on screen only.

Getting the print right

In the print dialog choose A4, scale 100% (or “Actual size”) and no margins. Print one page on plain paper first and hold it against a label sheet in front of a light; if the boxes line up, load the labels.

If a sheet is half used, set “Start at label” to the first empty position so you do not waste the rest.

What to put in the QR code

The asset tag on its own works with any scanner app and with the Scan page in AssetVow. If you use AssetVow, choose the AssetVow link instead: any phone camera then opens the asset straight away, after sign-in.

Use tags with a category prefix and a number, such as LAP-0001 or MON-0012. They are short enough to read off a label and sort sensibly in a spreadsheet.

Which labels last

Paper labels are fine for monitors and furniture in an office. For laptops that travel, use polyester or laminated labels, and stick them on the base, away from the palm rest, where they do not rub off.

Labels are the start. Counting is where they pay off.

In AssetVow, print labels straight from your inventory, scan any label with a phone to open the asset, and run a stock count of an office against a frozen list. Anything not found is marked missing.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the asset tag generator free?+

Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit beyond 1,000 labels per print run, and your list stays in your browser.

Which label sheets does it support?+

A4 sheets with 21 labels (63.5 × 38.1 mm), 24 labels (63.5 × 33.9 mm), 14 labels (99.1 × 38.1 mm) or 65 labels (38.1 × 21.2 mm). These are the common sizes sold in India by stationery and label brands.

Can I upload my Excel asset list?+

Save the sheet as CSV first (File → Save as → CSV), then upload it. The first column is used as the tag and the second as the name; a heading row is skipped.

Will these labels work with AssetVow later?+

Yes. AssetVow’s Scan page reads a QR code that holds just the tag, and the “AssetVow link” option prints the same link AssetVow’s own labels use.

Should I use QR codes or barcodes?+

QR codes. Any phone camera reads them, they still scan when partly scratched, and they fit on small labels. Barcodes need a scanner and more width.
